CAROLINE CORDER

Pronouns: she/they

Caroline uses her fine arts background to combine fine art techniques with various tattoo techniques to create her own versatile style of work. Growing up, her grandmother owned an antique shop and her work remains heavily influenced by vintage works- specifically lithographs and etchings. This is evident in her use of soft color accents and varied line weights. She enjoys black work as well as color. She loves doing fine art recreations, anything mythology inspired, dark/morbid subject matter, and anything involving figures as well as botanicals and animals. She is most known for the intricacy and detail that she incorporates into her pieces.

Hi there! I’m Caroline Mae! I got into tattooing because I originally wanted to be an art therapist and the first tattoo I ever got provided me with a new autonomy over my body and boosted my self esteem- I wanted to do this for others! I view tattooing as a healing process, a way to turn trauma into something beautiful (or just get cool art that makes you feel more like the self you want to be) and I’m truly humbled to be able to do this for others. I have been tattooing since Halloween of 2019- the perfect debut for my career considering I love all things magical and/or spooky! I lived on a tiny island in the US Virgin Islands until I was 13, at which point my family moved to Decatur. I studied printmaking at The Lamar Dodd College of Arts and my work is heavily inspired by the connection to nature my childhood fostered, as well as my background in fine arts. My mother is a painter and my grandmother does custom framing as well as owning an antique shop when I was growing up, so I’ve been surrounded by art my whole life! I love animals- I have four kitties and a doggo and my fur babies and husband are my world. As a neurodivergent individual, I really value mental health and I do my best to advocate for mental health resources as well as creating a safe, open, and relatable space for my clients so that they can feel as comfortable as possible. Connecting with my clients and being able to provide “tattoo therapy” has also allowed me to grow and heal as an individual- something I am infinitely grateful for. My whole life I’ve wanted to find a way to combine my love of creating with my passion for helping others and I’m so grateful that all of you beautiful people have helped me curate a community where I can do that. 💜
